I create installations and objects that primarily reference our private spaces. These discrete and large-scale sculptures are affected by ambient light, ambient sound, and ambient information. The result is often ambient emotion. The existing space or material is my co-conspirator; the space already exists with its own information, my adjustments both accentuate this information and add new and surprising visuals to the viewer’s consciousness. I want to provide the viewer with an opportunity to experience his or her relationship to these kinds of interior spaces and materials. This can be achieved through color, craft, defamiliarization, and the exploration of the optical unconscious.
